And Here. We. Go.

Books + People, Music + Art, Projects + Hobbies, Thoughts + Opinion

And…we’re live! A handful of days later than expected (as should be expected) and the new site is up and running. And so far, thankfully no data hacks or ransomware attacks – not bad for the first 24 hours.

So first, if you’re reading this – again, thank you…truly. Next, promises will not go unfulfilled here. The 129 day project is still very much active and the central focus of G+D now that we have the tools needed to better serve our goals in place and working. Expect to see posts backfill the dates between this post on 10/5, and our last post before the site was taken down (9/23). A lot of catching up to do, so posts may feel a bit erratic over the next 2 weeks, but all with the intention of getting us back to level – posting each and every day.

Beyond that, I am really fired up this morning. Woke up early Jocko style, it’s dark out, it’s cold out, the world is still. When I signed off yesterday the site was finally in a state I was proud of, thought it looked halfway decent, and was ok with it being out there in the world for everyone to see. Tame Impala is playing in the background. I have a chaotic little hum in the back of my head that I could only draw a parallel to the Joker’s energy as an unstoppable force mentality. It’s a lot of mental chaos and I’m probably just riding a wave of mental energy and cold brew,  but it all just feels like a time to build. It feels like a new start – like a fresh beginning when you unexpectedly turn to a new chapter in a captivating book. When a rush of good emotions flood over you randomly and you let them take hold. When you really appreciate the opportunities you have in front of you.

I hope you’re looking forward to us getting back on the grind and to our articles. I also hope you have some expectations for us for some new content – both formats and subjects – as I surely have those expectations of G+D. We’ll at least be adding some webpages in the coming weeks, rebooting our social media to route articles back to this site (and be a little more engaging beyond just linking our posts), and overall just trying to keep our little corner of the internet original and engaging. With some dedication and some luck (maybe some Grit, maybe some Dynamite), hopefully we’ll have some brand new content to share with you folks, and you’ll feel like this is really becoming something you look forward to having in your day.

Anyway, there’s a ghost out there trying to kill all of us. The “new normal” probably won’t be going away anytime soon. Some ominous tones surrounding this fall and winter. The President is…well you know. Most people don’t really know what they’re doing or what’s going on. Everyone is in this together but we’re all also the exception to the rules. My point is – who cares, do you want. Be safe, be compassionate. Don’t over-correct unless you have the capability to do something drastic, but do something, anything that you wish you would have done sooner. It’s time to build. And here. We. Go

“I heard about a whirlwind that’s coming ’round, it’s gonna carry off all that isn’t bound, and when it happens…I won’t be holding on”

See you tomorrow.

One More Year

Time is frequently painted to be both the most precious and villainous energy in the universe. It is invaluable, cannot be created, and no amount of political or financial capital can recapture lost Time. We use it in the literal to describe living in the moment, being present to truly

Perspective + Relativity: 2020

When external stresses fundamentally change how we live our daily life, we are forced into a situation of evaluation. We reflect on how severely the change has impacted our lives, what adjustments have to be made in response, and how we will choose to view the world around us in

Starting New Habits

There are 24 hours in a day, and you are currently occupying all of them. Even without trying, one way or another the hours get allocated because they must. There is no saving time. There is no redistributing it once the day is gone. And the cycle repeats every 24
